It was two years ago when I passed a piece of writing through some websites which had carried a title “A Wake up call to Awbarre community in the Diaspora. In this article I reiterated that Awbarre district Diaspora have missed to play their part in the Development endeavors that are underway in the District in particular and the Somali region of Ethiopia in general. When I deliberated to write this article, I was expecting to get some feedback from the Diaspora community who hail from this District and fortunately I got more emails from some very prominent figures that was in my mind.

But to my surprise some of the readers of that piece told me that they had not such information and where the district stand when it comes to all sectors of Development in which education stand first. I never thought that in this era of information that communities in the developed world are not aware of what is going on in their original land back home.
We are all well aware that the Somali Regional state of Ethiopia has taken encouraging steps to welcome all Diaspora communities of the region and forward them all facilities to participate in the development of the region in all sectors and for the first time in the history of the Region a Diaspora office has been established.

This office has been endowed with full mandate to serve and welcome the entire home coming Diaspora of the region and facilitate the necessary services that may serve in the best interest of the Diaspora. The regional President Mr. abdi Muhumed Omer is the first ever President that has gone abroad to visit the Diaspora communities in all continents and persuade them to come home and invest their virgin land with all possible investments and promised them that the Region is fully committed to cooperate and collaborate with them.

Awbarre District Diaspora are part and parcel of the Somali regional State Diaspora that are expected to come home and be part of the development that is well underway in the Region and it was in this year in which a well committed Diaspora from Awbarre District based in the United Arab Emirates have announced a University Initiative that will be built in Awbarre district. This was the first step that the Diaspora from the district has announced. This initiative is encouraging and needs the overall support of both local and all Diaspora members around the world. But it is wise to be known to all that the investment opportunities in the region are plenty and needs to be utilized in a manner that will enhance the economic condition of the local people and that of the country.

Awbarre District is one of the Districts of Fafan Zone of Somali Regional state of Ethiopia, it is the Most Populous district in Somali Region and an estimated population of three hundred fifty thousand live in the district. The people in the District are mostly Agro-pastoralists depending on cultivation of crops and rearing livestock. The Diaspora Community from Awbarre District are expected the utilize the attractive political atmosphere that has allowed the Diaspora communities to come home and be part of the Growth and Transformation Plan that will lead the country to be among the middle income countries for the years to come.

We, Awbarre District educated youth will spare no effort in supporting all possible initiatives that are developed and forwarded by our Diaspora members and ready to devote our Money, Muscle and mind for the Betterment of the District Population and that of the Region although we are already busy in all sectors of Development.

Awbarre District is known to be one of the successful districts in education and has got more than six Secondary schools thanks to the regional Government administration that is committed to make a tangible change in the socio-economic development of the region. But all those achievements have been made without the Diaspora community involvement but it is discouraging that the Diaspora role is yet missing. It is my expectation that the Diaspora, with full information of the current situation of the region will try their best to collectively come up with projects and proposals that will benefit all.
